Larry, there have been different software modems come along, one I recall was from MOT. Because of the chore placed on the processor they've not found a market willing to dedicate that much processor power to the modem function. With the market now growing for the Internet type PC and the increase in processor power there may be a market springing up. Intel would love to have control of the modem function. I'm not sure Intel isn't just buying into the software side of this for other reasons than a software based modem. You must remember US Robotics was mostly a software company like Aware is.

Also 3Com has a deal with ADI for a modem on a chip...so I don't see the Itex as having anything very threatening to the modem makers. There wasn't anything on there web site last night if I'm thinking of the right company (Integrated Telecom Express?), did they show this or just announce this at the show?
