Afghans Fear Chaos, Taliban Rule After U.S. Withdrawal
from Breitbart Feed

Obama has finally succeeded in talking three quarters of the American people out of supporting the war effort in Afghanistan. As a recent CNN poll demonstrates, only 25% of Americans support the war, which has now lasted over a decade.

And while this, of course, is devastating to the morale of our troops, it’s also devastating to the Afghans who have grown accustomed to life without the Taliban, thanks to the work the U.S. military has been doing.

Many Afghans, particularly business owners, anticipate a surge in Taliban-led violence as soon as the U.S. pulls out in 2014. And they are so concerned about this that they are right now plotting their own exit strategies.

This explains why the New York Times has reported that “more than 30,400 Afghans applied for asylum in industrialized nations in 2011” and why the number of Afghans abroad who want to re-enter Afghanistan fell by half during that same time period.

Let’s face it; who wants to be around for a repeat of Vietnam? It was after American forces did a similar pullout there that Pol Pot and others killed an estimated two to three million of their own people.

No wonder Afghan business owner Abdul Wasay Manani is saying thanks but no thanks: “If the Taliban come like last time, ordering people around with whips, I can’t stay here. I have to leave this country to keep my family safe.”

Manani has already made one extensive trip to India in search of a place to relocate his business, and other larger businesses, including one of the biggest cell phone providers and an investment company, are also closing shop in Afghanistan when the U.S. troops pull out.

Right now, Obama either doesn’t understand or doesn’t care, but our troops are the only buffer between a quasi-peace and sheer brutality for the Afghan people. If you don’t believe me, just watch the Afghan business owners in 2014 as they flee the country in fear of their very lives.
