Assuming the fall of Assad would result in an Islamist government (which is not clear; Syria is not Egypt, and Barry Rubin says there are strong competing forces, mainly because Syria is more like Lebanon than Egypt), it would still be an improvement. It would cut Hizbullah off from its overland supply routes. Syrian behavior was so bad before it isn't likely to get worse.
