VW Wants to BUY Rolls Royce: Ignores SGI/Cray Fiasco...

dd, many summers ago I was stateside at Cape Cod and noticed an abundance of VW Beetles retrofitted with Rolls Royce hood kits... including chrome grill, flying lady and everything. -HOW COOL!- I thought. Truly a humorous social statement if there ever was one.

Then, you had these other VW owners driving around with "My other car is a Rolls Royce" bumper stickers. Not quite as pretentious as the RR hood kits, but humorous nonetheless.

Well, it looks like VW owners -everywhere- could have the last laugh after all as I am hearing VW CO wants to buy RR. That's right. VW wants to -OWN- Rolls Royce. How funny is that? Will Great Britain survive this latest German assault?? Churchill
-no doubt- is rolling in his grave!

And what is it with these VW guys anyway? Haven't they learned anything from watching SGI swallow Cray? Apparently not. IMO VW should stick with selling RR hood kits for their Beetle owners AND NOT -BUY- ROLLS ROYCE -THE COMPANY- FOR GOSH SAKES. Much like SGI would have been much better off selling fake freon tank attachments and Cray stick-on logo kits for their IRIS owners... rather than actually -BUYING CRAY- the whole company for crying out loud!!!

Ahhh, what do I know? Humble camel trader that I am.
