To All: Keep Your Eye on these Foreign Partners.....Deutsche Telekom, Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation (NTT), Telstra and Unisource

My pick is Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation (NTT)....

San Jose Mercury News, Sunday November 10, 1996:
(Headline) "World's biggest phone company shackled" - Changing global markets may force Japan to loosen grip on NTT.

Some excerpts from the San Jose Mercury News article:

"NTT is a loathe to get left behind in the quest for international business, particularly once a $42 Billion MCI-British Telecom starts stomping on the globe."

Minister Ichiro Hino (his first direct response to the $20.5 billion buy out of MCI by British Telecom), "Japan is sure to be affected by the global trend of large mergers. We must think more about NTT and other companies developing their overseas operations."

What's the connection with Novell? Read on......

Here are some recent articles regarding NTT and Novell, specifically the development and marketing of the Network Connect Services and integrating Novell's NDS platform into the new "Global Directory Service" standard.

1) Summary: (Nasdaq: NOVL) and Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation (NTT), the largest telecommunications company in Japan, announced today the availability of NTT Network Connect Services (NNCS) based on Novell Directory Services(TM). The NNCS offering was officially announced in Japan on July 4 and will be commercially available on July 10.

2) Summary: adjusted its directory plan for Microsoft Windows NT, Novell detailed plans that emphasize NDS' cross-platform future in addition to forthcoming integration with the Internet and ease of administration and management. Running NDS on as many platforms as possible is at the top of Novell's to-do list, although the goal of porting its directory to Windows NT won't be complete until the middle.

“Global NCS - Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corp. this month announced availability of NetWare Connect Services in Japan, doubling the number of carriers offering the Novell Inc. service. Based on NDS (Novell Directory Services), Nippon NetWare Connect Services (NNCS) and AT&T NCS (ANCS) provide users with managed Internet/intranet services. ANCS has been available since last year. Although Novell officials said the company has been negotiating with as many as 20 telecommunications companies, providers planning to deliver NCS implementations this year include Germany's Deutsche Telekom AG; Australia's Telstra Corp.; and the multinational Unisource N.V. owned by Telecom Netherlands, Sweden's Telia, Swiss Telecom, and Telefonica of Spain. “
