Good point. That gift would decline over time as hybrids tended to become the norm although it would still be a gift to a limited extent to the auto manufactures that make hybrids even if they all do, even if every model is a hybrid you are still providing a subsidy for cars. Maybe the real gift would be to any company that sells batteries or hybrid related equipment to multiple car companies.
