Too late--we've already given "the Al Qaeda movement a chance to get off the ropes where it is being hurt"

1 - No we didn't.

2 - Even in an alternate universe where we had, that isn't any reason to do it again.

that is one of the primary reasons why diverting attention to Iraq in '02 was a huge mistake.

Its not like Afghanistan stopped because of Iraq.

2. "we would destroy our credibility with future allies in the fight against Islamic radicals"--we've managed to do that too.

No we haven't, but abandoning either Iraq or Afghanistan would cause it to happen.

re #3 - The European's should have less credibility on global warming than Bush. They signed agreements, and then increased their emissions anyway. Bush didn't sign on to anything and the Kyoto accord was never ratified in the US.

But then, I suspect you are a skeptic a la Lomborg, so it doesn't really matter.

I'm not sure I have Lomborg's position down exactly but I suspect my opinion is somewhat like his. I'm skeptical about a lot of the global warming claims, but not the idea that the earth has gotten warmer.

But credibility on global warming is different than the global warming issue itself, so "it doesn't really matter" isn't right, you could present your argument to me if my opinion was "we must stop emitting all CO2 in the next 10 seconds or within a year the Earth will be like Venus", or if my opinion was that the idea of global warming was a deliberate hoax, and that we are soon to enter in to an ice age. Your specific opinion on the issue doesn't say anything about how good your word is and how well you keep your commitments.
