Since it's a private university, it would basically be a contract case. What did the contract between Yoo and the university say, what did the catalog say, etc. Then there is the secondary question whether the contract was conscionable. I would argue that even if the contract said that diplomas could be revoked for prior disciplinary actions, is it conscionable to do so? But I assume the University must think they have at least some legal ground for doing this, since he had a lawyer with him at the hearing and I accume the University will have taken legal advice before proceeding.

Will be interesting to see how it plays out.
