Frank, at the Baltimore OFC, couple of engineers told me that every one will keep on "fooling around" with components until competitive pressures force them to put in soliton technology and abandon pump lasers, etc.
i don't know how close such as algety, qtera and corvis are to scalable product. it may not be foot-dragging but rather an art that has not reached the proper state.
but do you, or any thread members, have any take on solitons vs. pump lasers etc. maybe the bottom line is: solitons are still too complex, and we'll be pumping away for some time to come.
