Jan, I just confirmed with my broker and Amzn DOES split June 1st.
The shares will be delivered into my account on June 8th.

The answer is yes. The brokerage house may need the shares you borrowed to short. They can force you to cover.>

Glen is right, that is why I would never short a stock on margin.
If you can't afford it, Put's should be the only play.
