They aren't. Michael Steele, this morning, said Republicans were calling for one.

The Rs don't want a "half-truth" commission. For example, if we're going to release the "torture memos", let's release both sides of the argument and allow the public to see the whole truth. If we're going to get to the truth, let's make sure that the truth comes out -- that both the Ds and the Rs supported waterboarding when it was politically popular to do so (which it was at the time).

Now that it has become less popular (particularly with the D base) the Ds don't have the backbone to say, "Yes, I supported it". The Rs positions haven't changed.
