Not only OIL but also to eliminate any possible Iraqi resistance to Israel's expansionist plans in Israel.

For more than a decade we were told by the spinmeisters that Iraq posed a clear and ongoing threat to its neighbours in general and to Israel in particular. This spin was false. Israel, with nuclear weapons at its disposal, is armed to the teeth and can easily take care of itself with little or no help from the US.
