MSFT can stop JAVA as a platform! No one can make MSFT sell a product in their software package that would compete with Windows.

SUNW may win their lawsuit with MSFT. MSFT may have to pay a huge sum of money to SUNW. By that time MSFT will have their new version of NT in place.

So MSFT pays a huge sum to SUNW! Big deal! MSFT already has the market tied up with NT because, the feeling is, that most people who use the PC will want to standardize on one package.

In the meantime, Gates laughs! In a couple of years, MSFT pays money to SUNW for misuse of JAVA (maybe). In the end, MSFT wins the PC market because it disables JAVA with new version of NT.

I was told MSFT would be able to do this because SUNW did not specify how MSFT was to use JAVA in Windows. So MSFT makes JAVA ineffective.

SUNW still has a market for unix & workstations. I also hear SUNW has good ideas & neat products.

As far as JAVA goes, the rumor is that Gates did SUNW in.
