What COULD happen, is a "desktop detective" could find that you made some phone calls, moved some money around, have a car matching a description, and bought gas and groceries at the exact time some crime was committed, making you a suspect for that crime. All resulting from info on the database.
Is THAT supposed to be bad? So cops can't compile info any moe to catch crooks? Then why have them?

My criteria for any new governmental powers is, "what would Hitler have done with this power?"
That is possibly the poorest standard I ever heard of. It means we should never have elected a President, nor should we again. Hitler was ELECTED to the German Chancellorship by the Bundestag in 1933, remember? There is apoddibility with any President we ever elect that he may attempt a coup and make himdelf dictator- -just like Hitler did.
