Jeff, oh...that!

It's a long story but a person with an AOL e-mail address supposedly named Cheryl Smith (according to the AOL profile at the time) was all bent out of shape because Mike Vitas had posted some positive things about a co. that turned out to be a scam. Mike had even talked face to face with the CEO and was lied to about the co. and their products. I believe the whole thing was taking place on Prodigy at the time. Anyway, C. Smith also bought the stock apparently based on Mike's DD effort. C. Smith's email address was labody@aol.com. The stock imploded and money was lost by all. Mike joined SI and bought IFCI in early 1997 at a very good price. Now, when he's not being lied to by a CEO, Mike does very good DD and posted on the IFCI thread what he had found out about IFCI which was all very good and solid info. All of a sudden, out of the blue, comes this poster named Pete Smith. This guy was extremely venomous in his attacks on both Mike AND IFCI. Pete alleged that IFCI was a scam and that Mike was less than an upstanding individual and referred to the other company that Mike and many others were conned by. In checking Pete's profile, the e-mail address labody@aol.com revealed that Pete was Cheryl. Pete/Cheryl became so abusive that SI removed this person's priveledges. IFCI went from 1 1/2 to nearly 9 in the ensuing months and is still a stock with potential as the co. is quite sound. Now we have this person claiming to be Christopher Smith (a self proclaimed stock genius as well as a market maker with an extremely powerful and prestigious but as yet unnamed firm). When this Smith first appeared on thundering hooves of righteous indignation, a check of his profile revealed the e-mail address of labody@aol.com. When this was brought out, he quickly changed it to the fictitious address walletful@aol.com. Then changed to unavailable. The whole thing is rather sad yet amusing once you get used to it. I geuss I should stop here and let you get back to whatever you were doing. Have a great weekend.
