Newt Gingrich was on MTP this morning.

Russtert asked him about the NSA program and asked one of his trademarked leading questions trying to elicit a critical response. Gingrich's response, IMO, was spot on. To paraphrase:

Look, we're battling people who would like nothing better than to kill millions of Americans. If we can get information that would prevent an attack on New York, Buffalo or Atlanta, shouldn't we do it? Do you want the government sit back and do nothing about it, even though we can get information that might prevent an attack?

Smithee comment: It's curious that the most vocal critics of administration programs to thwart future attacks are the same ones who said the administration didn't do enough to prevent 9-11.
