"I don't remember anyone arguing that Palin's wardrobe was illegal."
Hmm, good point. So they are making shit up.
Again.
"I do remember it being hypocritical, stupid, and politically harmful to McCain."
That it was. Now, I can understand why it was done, the candidate needs to look nice and the money is pocket change in the greater context of things. Like with Edwards haircut, convenience and schedule wins out over cost.
"After all Palin portrayed herself as a regular soccer mom, not someone who spent that kind of money on clothes. "
Precisely. Although, I have to admit, that little pink number made it easy for Tina Fey to slip into that role. That was worth a lot.
But, I digress.
Yeah. And the attempts here to claim that the kerfuffle over Edwards hair was different because it conflicted with his populist image is exposed as the hypocrisy it is by this disconnect between the image they wanted Palin to portray and the message that a $150k makeover sends.
"The scandal hurt their campaign, made them look foolish, hypocritical and trivial in very serious times..."
And it painfully illustrated how rushed picking her was. Instead of flying out an advance team with an image consultant to polish her image, they hastily flew her to NYC and resorted to just grabbing things off a rack. Assuming those stories that a lot of the stuff didn't even fit are true. For good or bad, appearances are important in a campaign and this just made them all look like amateurs. |
