I believe those generous homestead laws, like you are referring to in Texas, and still are in Florida, make those states a haven for deadbeats. Deadbeats move there, buy huge estates, file bankruptcy, stiff their creditors, and keep the real estate because of the generous homestead exemption. Good thing Texas wised up. Hope Florida reforms its laws if it hasn't done so already. Am I supposed to be surprised that you don't appear to like seeing people be held accountable for their debts?
