Nissan North America, meantime, reported a 33.1% drop in its May sales from a year earlier, but said the number jumped by 43% from April."

I drive by a local Nissan dealer almost every day. He's got vehicles almost stacked on top of each other. He's running a constant "buy one, get one free" sale and every other gimmick in the book to move iron, but nothing seems to work. Same with all the car dealers.

Here at least, it seems like people have just decided to keep driving the perfectly serviceable vehicles they already own.

Interestingly enough, I've seen my first new cars.....purely anecdotal because I normally don't pay attention but almost every day last week, I saw a new model being driven.

As for your Nissan comments, I think they are doing the same thing here. Isn't Nissan the weakest Japanese brand?

Meanwhile, the Dow is reacting to the better than expected car sales.
