Seems AOL's scraping bottom of the barrel with N2K.

Tower Records, long on AOL as `anchor' for music has the CASH and
brand name recognition N2K doesn't. Obviously, Tower didn't think
what N2K got with money it doesn't yet have isn't worth Tower's cash
that's in the bank.

And I'd bet AOL looked elsewhere than Tower too before settling on
N2K.

Watch to see if AOL books in Q1 amounts for "set-up" of the N2K
area despite that even the first "if we get the IPO done" payment
isn't due until December.
