Romney can't win with the bible thumpers because he's a Mormon. So, he can't win (R) primaries. If he even looks seriously threatening, Huckabee and Palin's minions will give the (R) values voters a lesson in wacky Mormon beliefs. So, the (R)'s are in a position where they have no candidate that can both win in their primaries AND win in a general election. The price of adopting the bible-thumping, fetus worshipping wing of the party.
