QLT appoints chief financial officer
VANCOUVER, Oct 24, 2001 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Dr. Julia Levy announced today the appointment of Michael J. Doty as senior vice president and chief financial officer of QLT Inc. (NASDAQ: QLTI; TSE: QLT).
Mr. Doty's breadth of experience - from strategic planning to information systems; from mergers and acquisitions to investor relations - emanates from a financial management career that spans more than two decades with companies across a range of sectors, including technology and health care.
As vice president of finance and planning at Reckitt & Colman, an international marketer of pharmaceutical products and consumer goods, Mr. Doty spearheaded a major acquisition and developed the company's strategic planning function. With Hoke Inc., a multinational chemical industries supplier, Mr. Doty served as senior vice president and CFO, responsible for management information systems and worldwide human resources, as well as finance. Most recently, Mr. Doty was senior vice president and CFO at Inamed Corporation, a global supplier of medical devices, where he led the company's acquisition of Collagen Aesthetics and played leading roles in raising capital and forming strategic alliances. He has also held posts at 3M and Honeywell.
Mr. Doty holds a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of St. Thomas, a Bachelor of Science (BS) and Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) from the University of Minnesota and is a certified public accountant.
