Dow Jones News Service -- November 6, 1996
Intel Sees 4Q Revs Well Above 3Q $5.14B

SANTA CLARA, Calif. (Dow Jones)--Intel Corp. (INTC) said that based on continued current strength in bookings and billings, it expects fourth quarter revenues to be ''significantly higher'' than third quarter revenue of $5.14 billion.

Intel Corp. (INTC) said that assuming continued strength in billings, the company expects the fourth quarter gross margin to be above the third quarter's level of 57%. Intel said it plans to report fourth quarter earnings on Jan. 14, 1997 after the close of the market.

Intel Corp. (INTC) said expenses - research and development plus MG&A - are expected to be up about 17% to 20% in the fourth quarter from $1.01 billion in the third quarter. In a press release, the company said the increase is due primarily to seasonally higher advertising
costs and revenue dependent expenses such as co-marketing programs.

Shares responded after-hours, and trades had been made at 120, traders said, above Intel's closing price of 118 7/8.

"Out of control on the upside"
