View that it's contest between MSFT and AOL is off-base.

Ultimately the issue isn't even raw sub count but content.

Where is the killer content most likely to come from?

In that it is MSFT and AOL against multitudes and billions of $
developing on the web.

And neither AOL nor MSFT can cover all bases. For example, even
outside of entertainment content, look at how Bigbook etc. have co-opted electronic yellow pages; guys like Infospace name/address directories.

Sure AOL and MSFT will get link advertising from hot web services
and content. But that's crumbs compared to owning the content and
services.
