<Is ARCA dead as far as Goldman Sachs involvement?...>

Scanshift, I see your "holy war" against ARCA continues. Got to give you credit for persistence.

My answer is no, if you are familiar with current-day high-level marketing and positioning tactics, and you read closely between the lines, these guys are just building another sophisticated ECN... but they are "positioning" it as something else, without saying why. I would expect for a powerhouse like Goldman to spread their bets in this area. I have a lot of past experience at assessing this sort of stuff in my prior business (www.bellc.com)

Primex looks like a major smoke-job to me. They are just positioning it, and boosting their "valuation"/visibility, in order to cut more deals and arrange financing. ARCA, on the other hand is real, today and growing. In tech, that's where the winners come from, until proven otherwise. Sure, better ECNs than ARCA may well come along (especially with ARCA's reputed intransigence and resistance to customer input); but these guys are blowing a lot of smoke which makes me suspicious. Remember two years ago, when PrimeMark was going to quickly "obsolete" institutional trading of large blocks on the NYSE?... -Steve
