Expert amateur optimism; 2nd highest long pick at stockjungle:
This is from sj's Jungle Weekly (http://www.stockjungle.com/research/jwarchive/072800.asp):
As the StockJungle.com Community continues to grow, now with 14,000 members, it's becoming an even more valuable resource for uncovering investment insights. Besides the ability to identify the cream of the crop as far as individual stock pickers go, we're also able to track some interesting trends in the Community at large.
We have internal screens that allow us to see the movements in and out of particular sectors, which stocks are generating the most activity and even gauge the relative bullishness/bearishness of our Community over a given timeframe. Could our Community have within its walls a crystal ball that reveals where the market might be heading? Or are we, as a whole, a contrarian indicator?
Given what's occurred in the market this week, we thought it would be interesting to look at the most popular new picks in the Community. Yesterday, here is how it broke down between longs and shorts:
New Longs: Company (Ticker) # of picks Nokia (NOK) 43 Rambus (RMBS) 15 JDS Uniphase (JDSU) 13 SDL, Inc. (SDLI) 12 Integrated Silicon (ISSI) 11 LSI Logic (LSI) 11 Accelerated Networks (ACCL) 10 Lucent (LU) 10 Amazon.com (AMZN) 8 InfoSpace (INSP) 8
New Shorts: Company (Ticker) # of picks Amazon.com (AMZN) 6 JDS Uniphase (JDSU) 5 Nokia (NOK) 4 American Power Conversion (APCC) 3 Accelerated Networks (ACCL) 3 PMC-Sierra (PMCS) 2 Juniper Networks (JNPR) 2 Integrated Silicon (ISSI) 2 Nortel Networks (NT) 2 Applied Micro Circuits (AMCC) 2
One thing that would probably surprise most people is how our Community immediately jumped on Nokia right after its big blow up. Instead of being scared and running away from a falling stock, our Community displayed its own commitment and independence, by selecting this stock as its most popular stock pick yesterday. It's interesting to note that today, in a severe market correction, Nokia is up 7 points to 44 or 3.19%. stockjungle.com
