The JVC/Mediamatics deal isn't as big a hit to C-Cube as the Samsung/Nuon deal. Those are sockets that C-Cube should win. US DVD player sales up 229.5% in the lastest week.............................

Vital Statistics - 2/22/00

It must hold true that a DVD makes a perfect Valentine gift. According to VideoScan?s First Alert Reporting Retailers, for the week ending Feb. 13, 2000, DVD title sales soared to 792,000, upping the year-to-date total to 4,521,000.

According to the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), for the week ending Feb. 11, 2000, the total number of DVD player sales to dealers was 54,508, a 229.5 percent increase over the same week last year. Projection television sales were 21,438, a tremendous 47.1 percent increase.

Month-to-date, DVD player sales are 109,119, a 248.7 percent increase over February 1999 and projection television sales are up at 36,847, a 68.5 percent increase.

Year-to-date, DVD players sales are 479,150, a 205.5 percent increase over last year and projection television sales are 129,057, a 36.4 percent increase.
