mozek, first thanks for the post... it actually explained a little of .net to me, as a minimum the protocol for network enabled devices sounds interesting.

The reason I dwell on biztalk is that I read things like this, industry-specific electronic data interchange (EDI) blueprints. In manufacturing, for example, such a blueprint would provide standards (taken from that ZD piece)... I have some experience "trying to define EDI blueprints" and this is an age-old problem that everyone including IBM has been trying to solve for 30 years... the only thing that has changed wrt defining document standards for business transactions over the net is the standardization of enterprise software platforms and therefore enterprise software internals is the knowledge you need to successfully achieve this.

I'm sure some people here remember that company Crossworlds and Katrina Barnett... this was her companies objective and despite all the hype they never got much off the ground.

Otoh, as you point out if this is a lower level protocol for embedded devices or something thats another matter... but is msft an expert in that?
