Kerry has grown up a lot since 1971, even though he was right to fight to end that atrocious war then. He is now neither hawk nor dove, he is a common sense person unfraid to pull the trigger but also unafraid to make peace. Bush doesn't know what he wants except to get re-elected and go after oilfields.
