MPEG is a compression format. Before the video is compressed, information is thrown out. In compressing the information, the more you have, the higher the degree of compression that is needed to fit the video in a given space. When uncompressing and viewing compressed video, the lower the compression rate, the better the quality.

If you had unlimited space, you don't need MPEG, and you would have better quality. Here's a cook book. You can try it yourself......................................
