Joe, Thanks for the comment, but I think the congrats go to the young lady (my granddaughter-in-law) who reached out beyond herself and volunteered to protect and defend this great country and many others as well.
And while doing so she attended army schools, learned skills and developed work habits that are recognized by some civilians as valuable.

We can talk all we want here on SI, but the future of America is in the hands of these patriotic youngsters.

The best thing we can do and what we are not doing enough of (that is a personal criticism) is to do more to empower those young adults who care enough to volunteer to do more and then volunteer to do more again.

I wish ya'll could meet her. I wish you could have seen her sleeping night after night for weeks at the foot of my grandson's hospital bed. That is loyalty defined. I wish you could meet this grandson with 291 parachute jumps and only 21 YO. He was learning and refining this skill while waiting for a slot to enlist for. He set a goal to break my family record. I tell him he did. It took me to late 20s to get that many jumps.

These are some of the hard working, risk taking, youngsters that we each need to identify and support because the job of cleaning up our excesses and mistakes rests squarely on their shoulders and at 21 YO they don't even recognize that yet.
