Linda,

As some accounts would have it (I've come across this more than once), Telica sat down with Verizon a while back and found out what the ILEC's likes and dislikes were w.r.t. softswitch and voip in general. The startup proceeded at that point to do all of the right things [read as: they were fitted for a bell helmet], including qualifying for OSMINE compliance at a relatively early stage. This is something that Sonus, another softswitch vendor, recently accomplished just a few weeks ago, too.

I'd say that these moves are instructive in a way, serving as a sign of the times, when Internet (IP) convergence platform vendors suddenly find themselves routinely submitting to the architectural and data modeling mandates of dominant PSTN carriers.
