Can you imagine a time when food was so cheap, that with a nickel glass of beer, one could eat as much fly-blown cold cuts and bread as you wanted? I remember this -- and because I was a kid, I couldn't buy the beer, so I really got free lunch. I would grab a man's hand outside the bar and say "Take me to lunch." I thought I ought to mention this. My father never had a nickel.
