But that doesn't mean he didn't violate the law and the facts clearly indicate he did.

It is not up to anyone but the law to decide that point...regardless of how you want to spin it. There is no room for defense of vigilantism under any circumstance but anarchy, which is what the right seems to be advocating since the humiliation at the polls in 2008.
