Looks like you don't know what you are talking about. First
Cornell is not the Citadel of Computer Science. Second, NT
is an immature operating system going through growing pains.
Most software developement is done on UNIX machines, and
SUN has the lions share of the market here.
A University will take whatever machines are donated to them.
I have a CS degree and can tell you that the type of operating
system that you learn on has no relevence. You learn how to design
and code. NT is good for a business setting where you can share
documents and use e-mail. The real fight between Microsoft and
SUN is for the internet not the OS. There is going to be a great deal
of money to be made over the Internet and everyone is fighting for there piece, this is where the competition is.
