LBJ's programs weren't even close to socialism. More nearly capitalism with a human face. The socialism of that period, at least the democratic socialism of that period, the 60s, appears best in Michael Harrington's work and in magazines like Dissent.

All of which, I said earlier, fits within a very long tradition of democratic socialism in this country.
