i believe that no one wants to antagonize the management of large banks except for a few outspoken individual who are not part of the power elite and dont need to curry favors like politicians, investment managers, or people who are vulnerable to governmental scrutiny and audit. I know that when i worked for a major bank all the vps were encouraged to join a PAC, the benefits included dinner and cocktails with senior management. I chose not to join and within six months i was shipped out of the main office out to the burbs and my end of year bonus I suddenly had to fight for. coincidence? maybe.

I am sure that at this point most of the bank stocks are owned indirectly by passive investors via pension and mutual funds. they dont seem to be active except in the realm of some political cause.
