Truff,
"So, David, et al, take your best shots at me. What can I say, I'll buy cow patty futures if there's a profit in it <ggg>".
Generally speaking, I'm usually not interested in taking shots at anybody. I just get REAL annoyed when someone suddenly "infers" that my still holding a gargantuan position in IOM is idiotic, especially when they just sold all they had. The "roach motel" remark just got to me. Different strokes for different folks I say. I don't need any of this money, am reasonably computer literate and feel that in the end Iomega, in it's own niche WILL be another Intel, literally dominating their market. If I am right 3-5 years from now my net worth will be substantially higher. If I'm wrong, so be it...it's my money. Remember, I have been through it all with Iomega since mid-1995, but in the end, with patience, things always wound up O.K. It's as simple as that.
Actually, I have been really impressed by your very intelligent postings in the past and really felt for you the day you said you went into your office and cried (I think back in October). I can tell you I have been pretty upset at times myself, and not just with Iomega. The Asia thing was just a red herring, causing lots' of great stocks to get large haircuts. I always felt that you were a real solid member of this little community and obviously had a lot of experience in the areas of short term trading and options. I love to learn from others and sure don't have a knowledge lock on all aspects of investing. The older I get the more I realize that I don't know. I even thought about selling Feb. 35 covered calls before the split. With the size of my position I would have really cleaned house, but I knew I would have to be prepared to be "assigned" and just wasn't willing to actually sell because of my long term feelings about the company.
I truly bear you no ill will at all and am glad that you continue to post. I listen very attentively when you do, because, as I said before, I can learn a lot from you and it could make me money in the future. Shouldn't that be the real reason we are all here? Investors exchanging ideas so the everyone might make a buck?
