Paul: If a wafer can be discarded after SOI and before it reaches the FAB LINE, the COSTS have already been impacted - and throwing away a wafer that just cost over $80 plus the addition of an expensive ion implantation - and results in ZERO useable silicon - will have just increased AMD's COSTS. You call that a benefit ? Yes. It is certainly significantly better than having it take up capacity all through the system, wouldn't you say? Sure, it isn't free, but then no type of quality control is. But that doesn't mean it wouldn't be beneficial. You should work for AMD ! I'll spare you the obvious retorts. -fyo
