Fed's Powell in today's press conference: we are on a path to a very strong labor market

Powell: Rate increases are not what we are thinking about, we are thinking about asset purchases

Powell casts aside terms moderate and modest in his description of economy.
Shifts to words not heard in a very long time.

Housing is “strong,” business investment is “solid,” “supply constraints” have been more persistent and inflation is “notable”

Press conference content underscores that the Fed did discuss tapering & will continue to do so.
The Fed DID NOT actually talk about liftoff on rates.
Big takeaway from the Fed’s shift up in rate hikes is purely reflective of more optimism about the pace of the recovery. Still uncertain.
