Any fixed hard drive, internal, external-- whatever-- will be better than a removable. Faster, Cheaper, more reliable. Do like the pros do. Record and edit off of fixed hard drives. Backup to tape, CD, or removeable disc. Archive to tape or CD (or removable disc if you have $$$ to burn). If you want the data to still be there 50 years from now, go with CD-R.
