Well, perhaps you did or did not mention that AMD will most likely release an Earnings Warning - actually, another impending loss - which is the underlying reason that AMD has to go to IBM for a bail out.

Second, Compaq is an AMD customer. IBM is a Compaq competitor. If Compaq realizes that the K6's they get from AMD are are actually products made by their competitor IBM, they might give a long hard look to bailing out not only AMD but IBM AS WELL.

Every K6 Compaq buys may put $40 or $50 into IBM's bank account.

Your enemy's (Intel) enemy may be your "friend" (AMD), but your friend's friend (IBM) may be your enemy.

My guess is Compaq will wind down their AMD relationship.
