I have been in enough bad investments that I tend to heed the following rule: on the breaking of bad news or steep price drops, wait 3 months -- you will almost always get a second opportunity. Of course, you may have a long term time horizon, then getting in now or three montsh from now may not make much of a difference.

This past year I have been burnt by Qualcomm, AMF Bowling, P-COM and Cendant, so you are talking to shellshocked infantry here. What dismayed me is that I thought fixed income asset management (which is what Symphony Asset Managemet does) should be a pretty stable business. For management fees to be _cut in half_, even taking into account of the loss of incentive fees due to underperformance, there seems to be more to the story. I would be more interested in just how they messed up in the third quarter managing their assets.

Btw, insiders have been selling. I'm willing to wait for some of the insiders to come back.
