Work on the next generation Mpeg4/h.264 is done on silicon chip by mobilygem, using TSMC 90 nm process. Will have Mpeg2 decoder and a motion Jpeg codec. Its going to be a high profile HD H.264 encoding of multiple SD streams.

This en-Vie encoding will only use 500 milliwatts for 1080i resolution. Jpeg zoom from baseline wide screen SD encoding seem likely. But we trust decoding Mpeg4/H.264 cameras more than Mpeg2 conversion to Mpeg4?

The chip uses ARM cpu at 240 mhz, will sample in August at $30 in high volume.

My comment before was that its still in development; readiness at year end may not be likely?
