Luke, you only need the QP CD once to load the database. QP is fast at scanning on a Pentium, but I fear on a 386 scanning time would be intolerable. For TA to benefit you, you need to have a basic set of tools. I would upgrade to a new computer. You can find complete systems under $1000. Laptops of course are more expensive. If you go that route w/o CDROM drive, QP may be able to send you the historical database zipped onto multiple floppies. Or if you could attach by parallel port cable to a friend's computer w/ CDROM, that would be another way to do the one-time CD transfer.
