I agree with Cary that all on the thread should welcome opposing views. If somebody thinks a bearish opinion is not well substantiated, well then, so are a lot of bullish opinions.

For example, when one of the more frequent cheerleaders on this thread posted his breathless thoughts of how it was a fact that AMAT would report a (ridiculously high) BTB of 1.25, nobody stepped up to challenge him, not even after the next day, when we learned the results were a very strong BTB of 1.13. Where was the substance behind his post? There wasn't any. But nobody called attention to the emperor's lack of clothes, because he was a cheerleader, and thus a darling of the thread.

Uncivil attacks on a bear like Joe, whether the bear's analysis seems justified or not, do not serve the community any good. Following the thread of posts leading up to this one, I found that Joe was not treated in a reasonable way.

I for one always want to know what the other side is thinking. To secure that privilege, I think it is necessary to treat the other side with respect.
