I hear that Cisco has MAJOR problems with inventory piling up. I have heard that they made some long term commitments in order to lock up scarce components. Now these agreements are biting them in the behind. The bloating of inventory last quarter was not a one time event.

Could this really be true? Does Cisco own the inventory? What about the contract manufacturers? Could the inventory be finished goods instead of components or work in process? Is there a risk that this huge inventory bloat will have to be written down in the future? Curious minds want to know...
