Home foreclosures on the range
The number of homeowners threatened with foreclosure rose 32% in Dallas County last year and 25% in Fort Worth. The burbs north of the Metroplex were hit harder, with foreclosure postings up 73% in Collin County and 63% in Denton County. Job losses and heavy debt loads drove foreclosure postings higher. The disturbing trend continued in January.

Home Depot gained a percent today even after the company cut expectations for earnings growth for the year to 9-14% from 18-20%. The company is betting on getting some of that growth from women by paying more attention to them Women can look forward to Home Depot’s Ladies Night when stores host special do-it-yourself clinics. Who needs bunko?

In other earnings news, Stanley Works said its Q4 will come in light thanks to slower sales in the tool segments. And GE reported lower Q4 earnings year-over-year but met expectations. The employers reinsurance division particularly disappointed.
