Rodney King wasn't responsible for the riot
The police weren't responsible for the riot
The jury wasn't responsible for the riot.

the liberal press who didn't show the whole video was responsible for the riot. It's the same with the Trayvon Martin case. The press spins the story in a way that gets better ratings. And racist cops and security guards gets ratings.

The press has significant culpability for the 53 deaths and $1B in damages from the LA riots.

The press stopped serving its original purpose long ago. Now it is about entertainment. And to reconcile that fact, the press takes on the airs of political significance when in fact they are, at best, ambulance chasers.

If the press had shown the whole tape instead of the snippets that portrayed the police in the worst light, the public perception would be similar to that of the jury's. That is, that the cops probably crossed a line, but that Rodney King certainly contributed to the situation and with his actions, could have facilitated a completely different outcome.

Rodney King was a very flawed man. He certainly doesn't deserve any accolades. But I have been seeing people doing a veritable dance on his grave. He doesn't deserve that either. If the press had reported the news instead of making the news, nobody would remember Rodney King's name, 53 people killed in the riots would be alive and billions of dollars in damages would have been avoided.

It's time for the press to be held accountable for their sins.
