When you mentioned Remington and your military service, I had an old Royal I used through college. If you haven't tried a Model M, the keypress would click as it printed on the screen. With any other keyboard, I'm typing two letters at the same time or none. It gives you enough feedback not to print two letters if you're off a little. Forget imitations....

If someone is sleeping in the next room you might have an issue.

New ones look to be about 80, ebay has them for 20-40. I've gotten them at Goodwill for $5.
